Japan has always one of strong competitor fro Asia. However japan has not been able to perform that well in world cup as it does in home or in asia.Hoever japan is one of the first team to qualify for the World cup 2006 along Germany so they might bring some surprise this year.
Asian champions Japan came to Germany in 2005 and impressed many with their showing in the Confederations Cup. Now Brazilian legend Zico hopes to coach them to further heights at the World Cup.Japan seems to be improving as Germany 2006 will be Japan’s third successive FIFA World Cup finals.

Stars
Japan has one of the strongest line up from asian country Europe-based trio of Hidetoshi Nakata, Shunsuke Nakamura and Shinji Ono, and Kashima Antlers’ set-piece specialist Mitsuo Ogasawara
Hidetoshi Nakata, Shunsuke Nakamura and Shinji Ono, all of whom earn their salary in European leagues, make up Japan's quick and aggressive midfield and are the men who will get the closest marks when they take the field.

Japan and Nepalese Fans:
Japan has been one of favorite to see (rather than contender to world cup) of Nepalese people.Though people dont feel that japan will win the world cup most people support japan as asain contender. So people love japan and we can find some fan of japan as well.

Outlook:
Facing off against Brazil, Croatia and Australia, Japan doesn't have any easy opponents, but has a chance to move out of the preliminaries. Zico has even said he'd rather meet the much-feared Brazilian team in the group round than at a later, do-or-die, stage in the tournament, and even mentioned that the reigning world champions will probably have already qualified for the next round before meeting Japan and possibly not want to tire themselves out in the final game before the round of 16 matches. But no matter how the Brazilians play, Japan know they can match them because they already did in a 2:2 Confederations Cup draw.

Some facts and recent developments:
Japan have won Olympic bronze medal long ago.
They were defeated by Argentina, Croatia and Jamaica in WC 1998.
