Though the German finished 2nd in last edition of the Worldcup,they have not been able to maintain that standard with team falling to position and ordinary Coferadation cup desite having the home advantage.

Germany lost in 2 succcessive finals in 1982(Italy to 3-1) and in 1986(Argentina to 3-2)but fianlly manage to win in 1990 deteating argentina 1-0.
